These cones are placed over the point of your darts and slide up to sit flush with the barrel. They create a more aerodynamic front to your dart and as a result, have 2 functions.

Firstly, they make bounce-outs far less likely to happen as if the darts collide, they are designed to allow your dart to slide into the target area no matter how close they come to your other darts already in the board.

Dart point cones also help protect your flights. Again in the case of a collision, with the tapered point of a dart cone, your darts are far less likely to snag or catch on darts already on the board.

With a more aerodynamic front to your dart, they will have minor other effects as technically they will change the weight and weight distribution of the dart – but on the whole, these are minimal.

Many people swear by the effectiveness of dart point cones and we agree they are definitely worth trying, particularly at such a low cost.

A good dart grip wax will help keep your darts flying straight and true. It is applied to the fingers of your dart hand and leaves a residue on the barrel of the darts.

This ensures that even if your grip isn’t perfect – sweaty palms or a bad throw with an open hand, for example, it will help to keep your dart going in the right direction.

Dart grip is available in both liquid and solid form, with the solid wax being easier to apply. Players simply place the wax bar in the same side pocket as your throwing hand and between shots, dip into the pocket to rub a little wax on the fingers.

If it’s in your pocket it’ll be nice and soft and apply easily. The wax forms a barrier between your fingers and the barrel of the dart, preventing any slippage.

It is important to apply grip wax regularly, particularly if you are playing in a wet or humid environment. It’s particularly useful for anyone who has sweaty hands – under the stress of competition, sweaty palms can be inevitable and result in a huge grip problem.

A flight o ring is a small, circular plastic ring that is placed around the end of the flight. It helps keep the flight attached to the dart as it is threaded through the flight itself and when you place the flight on your shaft, it compresses the flight nice and tight onto the shaft.

This makes it far less likely to pop off during gameplay.

If you’re playing with plastic or nylon shafts, it’s unlikely you’ll need orings. These shafts tend to hold flights extremely well.

However, if your preference is for aluminum or carbon shafts and you’re fed up constantly having the flights pop out, then orings may be the perfect solution.

A flight ring works by being slid over the end of a flight and stopping it from moving which will help keep them straight. They also make sure when you remove your flights, they will stay in good condition for longer without damage.

To fit your darts with Orings, you’ll need a dart flight punch and the little rings.

  1. Flatten your flights flush with the table.
  2. Line up your flights perfectly in the punch.
  3. Punch a hole.
  4. Open the flight.
  5. Slide the ring into the new hole.
  6. Carefully insert your shaft into the flight and continue punching until it’s on snuggly.

Final Thoughts

These three dart accessories are all designed to help with your game, whether it’s by reducing the chances of a bounce-out, keeping your darts flying straight or ensuring your flights stay on the shaft

They’re all affordable and easy to use, so we definitely recommend giving them a try! Who knows, they might be the game bump you need to take your game up a level!
